The reason I write...
On April 3rd, 1994 my one and only sister, Heidi M. Allen, was kidnapped from the D & W Convenience Store in New Haven New York. In 2006 I wrote the draft for my first book as part of the “3-Day Novel Writing Contest” over Labor Day weekend. Two years later I pulled the draft from the shelf and attempted to start the revision and addition process but I wasn’t ready. In April 2010 while at the Alliance Women’s Spring Refresh I saw a poster for the first Christian Writer’s Gathering at Delta Lake in the coming Jul.
My heart was all a flutter and I felt God’s leading to attend. In anticipation for the conference I started to write again and pulled my draft from the shelf to bring with me. The entire weekend was a blessing and time of healing. Without the distractions of work, family, and life I was able to hear God. With new knowledge, hope, and motivation I drove home from Delta Lake Conference Center with a heart and desire to write for God…keeping my sister’s memory alive and helping others know it is possible to survive tragedy.
Where’s Heidi? The Search Begins is one sister’s journey following the abduction of her one and only sister. This is my story. I may not have my sister in my life but I have a loving and faithful God to strengthen and help me through each day with joy and hope. This book, website and blog is for Him – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
I write for God and pray others are blessed and healed by the gift He has given me. There is a story within each of us ~ God has gifted me to write. How is God calling you to share your story?
